November SID update

Speed Indication Devices (SID) latest data  – September 5th  – October 27th

Some good results again from the electronic signs. We have a pattern of periodically turning them round to face the opposite direction. The strange thing is it doesn’t seem to make much difference. Their very presence has done the job.

You may recall that in March 2024 the DFT issued guidance for local Councils on reducing speed limits on Rural Roads. Although the local Council make the decision there is no central record of how many have been approved and, in some cases, only the applications can be traced through AI.  No doubt a fuller picture could be established through multiple (up to 200) FOI requests.

The Speedwatch team said we would try to address the situation at Copsale but as there was much to be done it would require a small team of 3 or 4 volunteers. Unfortunately, nobody has come forward and the project can’t proceed – sad – but that is the situation.

Below you can see the pie charts which show the recorded speeds from each of the camera locations.
